The IADS Workforce is a group of volunteer dental students and recent graduates who support the International Association of Dental Students (IADS) in achieving its mission. They work for a one-year term within specific task forces, undertaking various tasks and projects.

To be eligible for the IADS Workforce, applicants must:

• Be an IADS member (full, corresponding, affiliate, or personal).

• Be an undergraduate dental student or a graduate dentist within two years of graduation.

• Successfully pass an interview with their prospective officer and a member of the IADS leadership.

• Fulfill any specific criteria set by the chosen task force.

• Not be a former IADS leadership member who was expelled or whose report was not approved by the General Assembly.

• Not be working for another task force within the same term.

IADS uses a structured recruitment process:

• The Executive Committee announces open positions.

• Interested individuals apply within the deadline.

• Candidates participate in interviews to assess their skills, motivation, and fit within the task force.

• The Executive Committee appoints successful candidates.

• Appointments are officially announced on the IADS website and social media channels.

The WF operates on a one-year term, typically aligning with the IADS leadership board's term. This allows for a smooth handover process and enables newly elected leaders to develop their action plans. However, exceptionally appointed personnel may serve for a shorter duration, concluding upon the recruitment of the new WF team.

The IADS Workforce offers various positions within its task forces:

• Working members: Collaborate to execute assigned tasks.

• Liaising positions: Facilitate workflow and communication within the task force.

• Coordinating positions: Connect with IADS member delegates and partner organizations.

• Managerial positions: Oversee specific projects throughout the term.

• Associate positions: Provide support in documentation, archiving, and implementation of mandates from IADS leadership.

The IADS Executive Committee monitors WF performance through monthly ranking reports submitted by each officer. These reports assess:

• Responsiveness

• Success/assigned task ratio

• Failure/assigned task ratio

• Adherence to deadlines

Members receive numerical ratings (0-5) for each aspect, impacting their eligibility for privileged offers and opportunities.

Each task force operates under the guidance of a designated officer, typically the respective chairperson or VP. The internal structure within each task force remains flexible, adapting to the IADS strategic plan and the officer's action plan.

Yes. Certificates are issued at the end of the term to Workforce members who receive a satisfactory performance evaluation from their supervising officer in line with IADS procedures. Evaluations consider completion of assigned tasks, quality of work, professionalism, communication, and adherence to deadlines. Certificates are not issued where performance criteria are not met.

No. These roles are volunteer-based. There’s no financial compensation. The same goes for our Executive Committee and Leadership: everyone contributes their time to support the IADS community.

By joining the IADS Workforce, you can expect to:

• Learn new skills (both general and role-specific) through guided tasks and practice.

• Develop and apply existing skills in a supportive environment serving an international dental-student audience.

• Receive structured feedback via periodic evaluations to help you grow.

• Access onboarding and role-specific orientation, including toolkits, templates, and brand guidelines.

• Benefit from mentorship and peer learning within your task force.

• Be credited for your work (e.g., on reports, publications, campaigns) where appropriate.

• Gain priority access to register for select IADS events (subject to availability and feasibility).

• Request letters of support/recommendation from the VPIA or relevant officers (based on performance and need).

• Join specialized online trainings curated for Workforce members.

Yes. Applicants must be IADS members, either through a national member association or via Personal Membership. Click here to check whether your country is represented by an IADS member organization. If not, you can apply for Personal Membership.

• If you are affiliated with a listed member association in your country of study, you are already an IADS member.

• If your country is listed but you’re unsure of your status, contact your country’s IADS delegate for confirmation.

• If your country is not listed, or you’re not affiliated with the listed association, apply for Personal Membership.
