Touch-Humanity International Voluntary Services (THIVS) is a non-profit and membership organization founded in October 2001 by former volunteers and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) members. The founder members had a common desire to join forces and take steps to touch the souls of the needy, troubled and suffering people in community through humanitarian services. Initially, the members participated in some events which included visiting orphans homes to spend time with children who needed love, cleaning the polluted rivers and jointly organized a beauty show for slum poor girls' education bursary in Kenya. But in 2003 THIVS developed an international voluntary sectors programme and a policy framework to help execute its mandate. Today, THIVS has established international partnership and collaborates with more than 40 local community development projects and institutions - both in Kenya, Uganda and Sudan. The projects are located in the rural villages and semi-urban areas where the level of awareness is still low, resources limited and abject poverty widespread. The THIVS international programmes are based on concepts of working holiday, cultural immersion, volunteering, field study, community support and travel adventure. The programmes are flexible, relatively cheap and our participants find the arrangement quite convenient and fulfilling! ![]() THIVS works with Hospitals, Health and Medical Centers where our volunteers work through Wokcamp or MLTV programme. Some of these Centers have dental units that would be of great help to IADS members. The voluntary opportunities are open to anyone who wants to volunteer and contribute development efforts while gaining a good knowledge and experience. We have been receiving both professionals and non-skilled people from many countries abroad - both young and adults. A volunteer wishing to come to work/serve in our partner dental unit need to have a good command/knowledge and or skills in dental profession and practice (both for dentists and students), though others like nurses for support work at the unit. Anyone interested to serve in a Kenyan Medical or Health Workcamp/Project MUST bring along a recommendation letter from his/her University, institution or employer. Both basic and good English is important for smooth communication with patients and staff. Among the basic equipments in standard dental in Kenya units includes: operator 's light lab vibrator, stools, model trimmer, dental lathe, drill unit, splash pans with vacuum, air water syringe, goose-necked lights, high-speed handpiece, burn-out oven, low-speed handpiece, whip mix investor, contra angle, vacuum forming machine, Others are, cavitron, plaster trap for under counter, amalgamator, cabinets, light cure unit, denture flasks, eye protection shield, denture press, bead sterilizer, denture boil out oven, autoclave, denture processor, ultrasonic T14, ultrasonic cleaner, developing tanks, casting torch, compressor and filter, casting machine, suction, casting rings, tongs for rings, X-ray view box, sand blaster, impression trays, articulators, autoclave, surveyor, apron, rubber bowls, spatulas, beakers, waxing instruments, plaster nippers, denture flask separator, plaster knives, plaster saw, electro surge, bench lights and camera. Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.
Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.Get free downloads for Internet Explorer 7, including recommended updates as they become available.
