The project allows students to experience primary oral healthcare in developing areas.

Prophylaxis

This project is designed to raise overall public awareness on dental diseases, caries and promote better health care.

Dear Friends,

 

On behalf of IADS and the Standing Committee On Research and Education, I am proud to announce you that we have established a new Edition of the International Dental Research Program for the summer of 2009, giving you, dental students from all over the world, the amazing opportunity of conducting a research project at the Academic Centre of Amsterdam, the Netherlands!

Apply now for one of the following projects:

1. Role of anion exchangers in ameloblasts during enamel formation

    Department of Oral Cell Biology, ACTA – 3 months (July, August, September)

 

2. MicroCT measurements of articular cartilage and bone morphology in healthy and osteoarthritic jaw joints

    Department of Functional Anatomy, ACTA  - 2 months ( June (15th), July, August (15th))

 

Eligibility conditions:

  • Dental students, that have conducted at least one research project before.
  • Students from IADS member countries, that have no membership-fee-debts to IADS.

 

Application process:

  • The Letter of Intention, that should contain the students’ motivation to apply to the program as well as the students’ motivation and proof of knowledge concerning the selected project to apply for.  
  • The Letter of Recommendation should express the students’ experience in doing research.
  • The Curriculum Vitae, that should express the student’s scientific activities.

 

** One student can apply only for one project!!**

 

The student shall keep in mind that:

  • He  shall participate for the full 3 months (or 2 months, depending on the selected projects) during the summer of 2009. This participation involves full time research work on the project.
  • The student shall find himself under the supervision of a Professor
  • The student has to write a report at the end of the period describing the results of the research.
  • Will cover at his own expenses accommodation, travel and every-day costs.
