Congresses and Meetings

The World Congress of IADS is hosted annually by a member country in a different part of the world, usually for the first ten days of August.

The congress always promises to be an experience of a lifetime: the programme is very busy, requiring participants to work hard, and of course, play hard. There is a scientific programme, comprising guest lectures, in which distinguished lecturers from faculties local to the conference speak to the delegates, and a student speaker competition, in which some of the students present papers on research that they have carried out themselves.

The internal business meetings of IADS also take place at the congress: in the General Assembly, the Exchange Officers' Meeting and the Workshops the debate is sometimes heated but always lively. Also, there is a very attractive social programme including cultural events, sight seeing, games and parties...

In addition to the annual congress a Mid-Year Meeting is held in February each year. This meeting is much shorter, lasting three or four days: its programme is wholly devoted to business meetings. It provides both formal and informal gatherings for the Executive Committee and National Exchange Officers. In the past, the venue for these meetings has always been London, close to the IADS permanent head offices at the FDI World Dental Federation, but recently the meetings have been held elsewhere.
